My name is Tricia Birdwell, and I am a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician located in Rapid City, SD. I am licensed to practice in SD, ID and CA, so if you live in one of those states, you’re in luck!
My practice is modeled on what’s called, “Direct Primary Care”. I do not accept or bill any insurance or medicare plans. “What?! How does that work?” Well, it works like this: $25/month for kids under 20 $45/month for adults under 50 $65/month for adults 50-64 $85/month for people 65 and older.
No insurance plan comes between my patients and I. By contracting with you, rather than with your insurance company, I am free to provide the best care for you. I’ve been a practicing Primary Care Physician for almost 20 years. I’ve seen it all…from big clinics that expect each visit to last 5-7 minutes, to my own private practice where insurance companies often dictated care.
My goal is to work outside of your insurance plan restrictions, and believe it or not, you can SAVE money by doing so if you have a typical ‘high-deductible’ or ‘high-copay’ plan. If you have insurance, great! I don’t take it, but I will treat you (evaluate, write prescriptions, order blood work or imaging tests) just like any doctor. You can still use your insurance at other facilities and specialists.
The difference is that by removing the interference from insurance companies and medicare (government) I can provide more direct care and spend more time working with you to keep you healthy.
My patients will get access to me via phone, text , or email. We can do a virtual ‘telehealth’ visit, any time you need to see me, day or night. I don’t rush you out the door and you won’t get another doctor or provider you've never dealt with before. You get me, and you get the care people used to expect from their doctor.
Sometimes there are extra charges, but not many and you will know the charge before the appointment is over. These charges might be incurred from a house call, labs or extra supplies needed.
I can do house calls when necessary in the Black Hills area. That’ll cost $150 if you’re within 25 miles of Rapid City. Beyond 25 miles but within the Black Hills, a house call charge would be worked out in advance. You would know Before you agreed, not after. I can treat acute illness/injury, chronic medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. and provide preventative care. There are times when you must go to the ER or a hospital but we will work together to determine the best care. I strive to have direct contact with my patients and have quick turnaround in regards to questions, refills, and appointments.
I can only accommodate somewhere around 500 patients and still provide the kind of response time I want (and my patients want!). Too many patients (like so many of the large clinics see during the day) and you lose the ability to personally call people back or take the time to do a telehealth or house call visit.
So if you’re ready for awesome care, directly, from a doctor that you know personally, enroll now!
